We found a home...Hopefully!

Remember what I said in a previous post about how we don't do well with dogs? We got Duke a day after Lady died and we have all had a hard time bonding with him since. I finally decided today to put him up on Craigslist and I can't believe the response we have gotten! It was nice to be able to be a little picky about who we gave him to because we really do like him. We found a home with 3 boys which is good because Duke only liked the boys in our family. Tomorrow he goes to his new home. We appreciate our sweet friend who brought him to us in the first place. As soon as we had Duke in our home I didn't see another tear from Jake. Best part is Jake isn't sad he's leaving either. He helped our grieving go a lot smoother so we will always be happy we had a few days with Duke.

I love it when kids can entertain themselves!

Although it interupted my watching So You Think You Can Dance and made a few of my folded laundry piles fall over, I didn't mind a bit when these boys decided to get a game going in my family room. Not sure exactly what they were doing but they had a great time and I haven't heard one "I'm bored" today.

Sad Boy

Jake has definately taken this the hardest. I have had to comfort him as he has broken out crying 4 different times today. He has carried around his Basset Hound Webkins all night.

Our Lady

Our sweet dog Lady died this morning. Yesterday morning she was not feeling that well but was well enough to climb the ladder and go to our backdoor neighbor's house for a visit. By the time I got home from work she wasn't eating and would drink very little. By around 7pm she was starting to get a little wobbily and I found her in our backyard heaving uncontrollably. By around 10:30 I was having to carry her because she couldn't walk without falling over. I knew then that she was probably dying. This morning she was very out of it and wouldnt respond to us at all. I decided to take her to get put to sleep when the office opened at 9:00 but by 8:00 she finally died.

It was a horrible thing to watch and I really hope I will forget that whole scene soon but we are all very glad she is not suffering anymore. As I'm writing this post I am actually sobbing. I'm the only one home and I'm sitting here sobbing about a dog. Did anyone ever think they would hear that from me? In the few short years we had her she really has become part of our family. If you know us you know that we have never been good at keeping dogs. We usually end up giving them away but there was something special about our Lady. She was the sweetest dog and most hilarious dog we have ever seen. She fit perfectly in our family. I seriously can't believe I've become so attatched to that dog! Rebecca told me that there is hole in her heart and she just can't feel better. I think we all feel a little bit like that.

Kinda a nothing day

I have spent the day making pancakes and eggs, then doing laundry and dishes in the morning, McDonalds with the boys and a couple cousins for lunch, making the piano recital program for Glenna, and watching a couple movies with the boys in the afternoon while finishing my laundry folding. I absolutely have loved this day. I know it sounds like a hum drum boring day for most mothers but I don't get days like this that often and I'm going to enjoy every second of it!

Saturday Night Wrestle Mania

Nate, Jake and Rebecca were sitting around nicely eating some dinner tonight when I went into the bathroom to blowdry my hair. When I was done, this is what I found. There must've been crazy pills in that food.

Happy Birthday Rebecca!

My sweet Rebecca turned 13 today. She is officially a teenager! She had a great day with her friends and family. Here are some of the highlights:
Rebecca asked for the Wii Fit for her birthday which we all had fun with today. I have to admit it caused a little sadness among four of the six members of our family when it told us we are overweight. I expected it to say that for me but it hits an 8 year old a little hard! Here is Rebecca doing the hula hoop game. I really do love this game in the fact that it gets the kids moving and understanding where they are at health wise. And it makes exercising really fun for them.
Here is Rebecca with her best friends. She spent the day doing shopping, lunch and a movie with her two best friends from school. Later we picked up her oldest friend Katelyn who had dinner and pie with us. Then we all watched our favorite show, So You Think You Can Dance, played some more Wii Fit and then off to bed by 10:30 so they could get up early for tennis.
We are so thankful to have such a sweet, talented, creative, funny, beautiful daughter in our family! We love you so much Rebecca!!!
