Frank's Birthday!

Tuesday was Frank's 76th birthday. Doesn't he look great? We went to his house that night and enjoyed some fabulous german chocolate cake made by my mom. Frank has been in my life since I was a Senior in high school in 1988. I've grown to love him like my own dad and need to let him know publicly how thankful I am that he is in my life. He is always willing to do anything for us. Not just like some people you know who say, "let me know what I can do to help" knowing they really would rather not, he genuinely wants to help and does all the time! He's been an awesome second dad and an amazing grandpa to our kids! I don't know what we would ever do without him! Thank you for everything Frank! We love you more than you could know!

My Little Girl is Growing Up!

Sarah came into my room tonight a little excited but pretty bummed. She was asked out on a date and she had to turn him down because she isn't 16 yet. I'm so proud of the young woman she is becoming. She always makes the right decision without even blinking an eye about it. This was a church thing so she could have tried to justify it but she wanted to do what has been set as the standard by church leaders and didn't even come and ask me, she just knew to say no. She kept saying over and over, "Why couldn't I have been born just a few months earlier?!" I told her we tried! It's so hard for her to see so many other Sophmores (and some of her Freshman friends) dating and she has to wait for the summer. I couldn't ask for a better first born to set the example for the rest of my kids.

Krazy Sub post of the day

A lady came in and wanted a 4 inch turkey even after being told our subs come in 8 and 12 inch sizes (the menu says so!). I offered the kids meal in turkey but she only wanted the sub. She finally ordered the 8 inch after sitting and staring at the menu for a long time while other customers waited patiently for her to make up her mind. I do not go into a McDonalds and order half a hambuger or into Little Ceasars and ask for 3/4 of a pizza. I don't quite get this thinking. It happens all the time!

We made a 3 foot torpedo that was ordered earlier this week for today. An hour after the pickup time passed so I called to see if they were coming. The lady said, "Oh, we decided not to do that today". REALLY? We ordered bread special for you, we wasted tons of product on you, and you just decided not to do that today? REALLY? Idiot.

Nate's solos today

Nate had several parts in his 5th grade Black History performance today. Here is the one I liked the best. Mary told me yesterday that during activity days all the girls were complaining that Nate had all the parts in the program because their music teacher thinks he is "spectacular". I have to agree, he was spectacular! Good job Nate! I am so impressed with how comfortable he seemed with every part. Not nervous at all to do all those parts in front of the whole school and parents. He absolutely does not take after his mom!

Jake's First Pinewood Derby

Jake had his Pinewood Derby last week and came in 5th place! This, after quite a night on the night before the race. Brent got a call from our awesome friend Clint at around 8:30 the night before just to see how Brent and Jake were doing with the car. Uh....we forgot! Yep. That's right. We forgot. So I told Jake to quickly take his shower while Brent ran to cut it at his dad's house and then go get paint at the store. I allowed Jake to stay up so that he could sand it and get it painted. The next day, Brent got home at around 3pm to finish it. They ran over to Clint's house to figure out the weights. While he was pouring hot metal into the car, he managed to get the hot metal all over his fingers so again, our awesome friend Clint saved the day and finished the car for us. Clint's wife and my awesome friend Mary ran upstairs and printed off the "Krazy Sub" in vinyl lettering so the car wouldn't be so plain looking. And the pictures I got?Courtesy of Mary. I don't know how we ever got along without the McGraths! Brent's fingers? Pretty disgusting at the moment.

Here's Jake being put on the spot after his car finished first in one of the races. And no, he didn't answer any of the questions asked of him if you were wondering. He stood there and just smiled. You would think they would learn by now that Jake's not going to answer any questions if he's in front of a crowd.

Help!

Rebecca's blog is not showing up at all. If you go to the layout or the edit posts, you see everything there but when you go to the actual blog, only her title and one date is showing. I've searched and searched on the internet for an answer and can't find it. Does anyone have a clue what's going on? http://tayremelon.blogspot.com/

Google "How To" of the Day...

I got all my slicing and ice cream and cookie mix done today so I just may have to make some hearts out of straws tomorrow. I think it's a perfect way to waste my Krazy Sub day away...

The Bachelor

It's official, Molly is my favorite.
He better pick her!

Sarah Made Regional Choir!!!

We are so proud of her! She has an awesome choir director at school who goes over sight reading with them a ton which is so important for them to know in order to make it into the choir. Her cousin Tate and her good friend Lia made it too so she's really happy. Only three girls in her choir at school made it into the Regional choir which made her feel really good about it. 18th chair isn't too shabby for a Sophmore! Go Sarah!

Sisters

I'm sitting here, waiting for laundry to finish, blog stalking, and I am hearing wonderful noises coming from the girls' room. I just had to make a note of it. I know, I should be upset that the girls are not asleep since it is a school night but I can't be upset. They are in their beds quietly talking and giggling with eachother. I almost want to sit close to their door and see what all the fun is about, but I don't want to ruin it. Although they don't know it yet, they won't have many more years to enjoy their time together. Oh how I miss my sister! Even though she hated it, I LOVED sharing a room with her. We fought. Boy, did we fight! But we loved eachother and we really had a lot of fun together. I miss staying up late, talking about boys or the latest fight we were in with a friend. I'm sorry to say this, but right now I'm very upset with Jeff for taking my sister away from me. Didn't he know how hard that would be for me? And why didn't I cherish every moment I had with her in Arizona before it was too late? What I wouldn't give to have a game of Canasta, a 44oz beverage and a candy bar with her right now. Those were the days...
