It's been awhile...

I'm not dead if you were wondering. I have just been extra busy lately. Here's my day yesterday so you can get the gist.

Woke up at 6 after going to bed at 12:30am, was woken up at 2:30am because Nate's friend who spent the night was stung by a scorpion, after staying up with him until I felt he would be okay, I was back in bed at 4:30, up again at 5am because I heard him crying, settled him down and then back in bed at 5:30 to then wake up at 6am.

Set up for our primary water party, had the activity, cleaned up, then home at 11:15am.

I was muddy head to toe so I showered, blow dried my hair (half way), stuck my hair in a ponytail, dropped my kids off to Albertsons because I forgot I was in charge of treats for the cousins music time, then was at work by 11:35am. (yes you read that right, I showered and was at work in 20 minutes. Some make up might have been done in the car...)

Had the busiest lunch we've had in a long time, left to get Sarah and bring her back to Krazy Sub at 4pm, then off to Costco to get food for the Danielsons who are staying with us for a few weeks.

Got home at 5:40 and had to be ready to go out with our friends by 6:00pm. Biggest feat of the day: I only fell asleep once on the date and in my defense, they were talking about mortgages and finances at that point in the night.

The kids:
Sarah got her permit yesterday! She's also working quite a bit for us at Krazy Sub this summer. She's already earned enough money to go to EFY next year.

Rebecca got a B in her first semester of Algebra in summer school and is doing well in her second semester that started this week.

Nate is trying to buy a bmx bike and thinking of every possible way to get some money out of us for it. His latest suggestion was that he go to work at Krazy Sub and earn $4.00 an hour wiping tables for us. Uh, no. If you have a job for him, let me know and I'll bring him right over! Other than the bike thing, he's having lots of fun with friends this summer.

Jake is doing swim team and seems to like it a lot.

They have all been really helpful trying to get our house a little more organized for our visitors who come tomorrow. They can't wait to have their cousins stay with us.

The kids singing tonight

Rebecca was wearing the nerd costume glasses all night. Don't worry, we didn't buy those for her!

My summers while I was growing up

We were just discussing the other night that as children we had to just entertain ourselves and find things to do in the summer. It seems like now days kids need their parents to entertain them or they just sit around and watch t.v. and complain about how there's nothing to do. I told the people we were talking to that I even made a pool out of a trash can for heaven's sake! The next day I was looking through my mom's pictures to find pictures for our upcoming family reunion and found the proof! I think worse than the trash can is my brothers in the background who made a pool out of the wagon! I forgot that we did that too. We also used to walk backwards up a hill in the snow 50 miles to get to school which is kind of wierd since I grew up in Tempe, Arizona...

Rebecca is 14 years old!

My 9lb 9oz, 22 inch baby turned 14 years old on Friday, the 5th of June and is still just as sweet as the day she was born. Dang I love that girl! We are so privileged to have her in our family! For her birthday she was kidnapped by her new Mia Maid class the night before and they all spent the night at her Mia Maid leader's home. Because she was kidnapped right after she got home from summer school, she had to do homework as soon as she got home on her birthday.

If that wasn't bad enough, she then had to go to school from 12:30 to 5pm! She had a great attitude about it though and never once complained.

While she was at school Jake, Nate, Tanner C., Tanner D., and Colton D. (Nate and Jake's friends) all blew up balloons and decorated the house with streamers. I thought that was really thoughtful of those boys. The day before that, they all plus their cousin Jackson spent the entire day doing yard work for Glenna to earn money to buy Rebecca presents. Seriously sweet and thoughtful boys!
Her best friend, Taylor who goes to summer school with her came home after school with her. She opened presents, had her favorite meal, bow tie chicken pasta that Brent prepared and then just hung out and played Sims the rest of the night which was all she looked forward to doing all day.

She got this bike that she asked and asked for. I actually might end up stealing it from her because I'm in love with it too! I found it on Craigslist brand new for a great deal but ended up having to go to some guy's condo in a scary part of Phoenix to get it! I'm so glad I had the sense to bring my friend, Mary with me!
We ended the night with some cheesecake for dessert. I couldn't find the candles I bought so this huge candle from my candle holder on the mantel had to do! (Look in the background at Jake. He is enjoying that drink!) I also love that she couldn't get off that bike to blow out her candle.
I love you so much Rebecca! Thank you for being such a good girl and bringing such joy into our family! I hope this was a wonderful birthday for you!
