Habubs and Djibouti

Brent came home from his class tonight and told us that the big wall of dust that we saw in the air tonight is called a habub. Jake then asked the best question of the day:

"Do they have habubs in Djibouti?"

If you don't get why it's funny, let me explain. Djibouti is a country in Africa. Ever since a man from Djibouti (pronounced jabooty) came to our ward, we Krummenachers have found joy in figuring out all the ways we can say a sentence with the word Djibouti in it.

Examples:
- Do you think it's hot in Djibouti?
- How big is Djibouti?
- Does it stink in Djibouti?

We now always end any fortune we read from a fortune cookie with the words "in Djibouti".
Still don't get why it's funny? I'm very sorry for you.

It's even funnier when you hear habub said out loud--I can't believe you didn't write this since it's so funny--well it's cracking me up at least--it's pronounced "ha-boob"! (And I just doublechecked the dictionary before I posted to make sure I am not a total idiot.) This now makes me want to say "haboob" in random questions now too--in Krummenacher style.

p.s. Who went to Djibouti?

Still my favorite is when the olympic athletes from Djibouti get together and talk about how good they are at throwing the javelin in Djibouti, and also the shot put in Djibouti.
