cute little giver

Coop was so extra nice to share his licorice with Brent tonight. You can't tell but that is a very dirty hand. How could he say no thank you to such a cute face?

I found this picture on my camera after my nap (yes, you read that right, NAP!) today. I think we have a ghost and a witch roaming our house.

Krazy Sub Post from Yesterday

A strange man came in to the shop and talked to me for 5 minutes about how I shouldn't trust the mafia. He said, "I wouldn't trust the mafia if they paid me!" Good to know, thank you for the advice strange man.

Family Night

We had a nice night tonight with my mom and dad. We picked up some Taco Bell (because I was too tired to cook) and joined them to eat then play a new game that they just bought. We don't go to my mom's house nearly enough and I seriously woke up in the middle of the night last night feeling guilty about it. It was so much fun to be with them and talk and laugh and play games. Thanks, Mom and Dad for a great evening! Even though one of the kids cried because he was losing, that same kid came home telling me that we need to buy that game. Whew, no permanent damage done.

Just a little side note: Mom is going in for testing Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to see if the lump in her neck is cancerous. She doesn't think it is but it would be nice for all of you family members to remember her in your prayers. They checked to see if it was lymphoma and it isn't so now they are checking the thyroid.

Quick little note: Good news! The ice cream machine repair guy finally showed up again after being MIA for over a week. He said he couldn't fix the whole machine because to fix the one part would be over $2000. He did say that he could fix it so that one side will work so we figured that was better than no ice cream at all. Hopefully it will be up and running tomorrow!

Krazy Sub Post of the Day

The ice cream machine is down and has been for almost a month now and the ice machine is making the ice too big and sometimes shuts off and stops making ice at all. I have made children cry because they were so excited for ice cream and couldn't get it. I have had dirty looks like you wouldn't believe because of the ice situation. We are in the process of fixing things but it takes time people! Ice cream machines used cost $6000! Do you think in this economy our little mom and pop shop can just whip up $6000 in a heart beat? We ordered the part for the ice machine and it is on it's way so hopefully we will have no more dirty looks from the guy who works at the auto parts store and gets his drink at a huge discount anyway. It's late. Maybe I better get to bed. Venting is over.

Time with Grandma

The kids had a wonderful time with Grandma Diane this weekend. She took the boys and John to Tucson on Thursday and then they spent the night back at home with Grandma. Friday the girls, and Ashley spent the day with her going out to lunch and a movie. Emily joined them that night and they all spent the night. Sarah had to work in the morning so Papa Frank drove her to Krazy Sub and the rest of the girls stayed with my mom and watched Jane Eyre all day. They all had a great time with their Grandma and cousins. They don't ever see each other anymore with all the hectic schedules so I'm so glad my mom took time to do this with them. Thanks Mom! It's so nice to have you finished with the mission!!! (Sorry Kris, I'm not trying to make you feel bad, I promise!)

I was thrown out of the Nissan dealership today!

I have never been more humiliated in my life. So much so that I have not wanted to eat today. Yes, that bad.

We have been doing an order for Riverview Nissan (at Dobson and the 202) for the last few weeks. Brent knows the guy in charge and because they only had a $160.00 budget, we have been very good at accommodating them. The order today normally would have been over $200.00 plus tax but we did the $160 for them. Nice huh? Brent's friend called him a few days ago and asked if we could deliver the food this week (over 5 miles away). We don't have the man power to do deliveries because we are a small business but again, because he is a friend, Brent said sure. We made sure we had an extra employee come in to help make the food, and I missed most of Nate's baseball game so that we could get it done and delivered on time.

I got to the dealership and saw several salesmen standing around. I got out 3 of the four foot subs to bring in and they all just watched as I struggled to open the door. When I got in the door, I asked where they needed the food. One man said that they needed the food upstairs and that he would show me the way. We got almost to the elevator when he remembered his manners, and took the subs from me. I went to get the rest of the food which was 2 more 4 foot subs, 4 pounds of macaroni salad, 4 pounds of potato salad, 20 bags of chips, and all of the condiments. Again, no help in the door but once inside one of the salesmen ordered a mexican worker to help me.

As we headed up the elevator a man in a suit eyed the food suspiciously and asked me how often they order from us. I told him that this is the first time we have delivered but that I think we have done the order a couple other times. Once we got to the 2nd floor, he followed me into the room where they wanted the food. As he was taking everything out of bags I got out the invoice and asked if he knew where Felix was so I could give the invoice to him. He grabbed it from me, looked at it, then continued to unload the food. I figured he didn't need me anymore so I started to leave. Food delivered, job done right? Nope.

He called me back and asked where all the plates and silverware were. I told him that we have never supplied the plates or silverware and I assume that Felix had taken care of that. He told me that he was the new part-owner of the dealership and that he didn't want slop getting all over his store. Again he wanted to know how we expected them to eat the food without plates and silverware. I told him that had we been told that they needed the plates and silverware, we would have been happy to supply it. He still didn't listen to me, cut me off and went on and on about the slop in his store. I started to suspect that he was mainly upset that Felix had even ordered food to begin with and that he was mostly concerned about having to pay for it. I didn't want Felix in trouble so I told him that we gave them a very good deal. This was the wrong thing to say because he got furious. He went on and on about how he has owned many businesses and that this was not the way to treat customers. Customer service means making sure there are utensils and plates to eat off of. He told me he would never do business with us again and ordered me to leave the store. I was flabbergasted and just stared at him for a second before it registered that I needed to just turn around and go.

Once I got downstairs Felix stopped me and was about to say something when the "owner" came up to us and told me he didn't want me in his showroom and that I needed to get out. He followed me out of the store and all I could think of to say was, "Are you serious?!" Oh, how I wish I could turn back time and tell him what I was thinking the whole way home as I was shaking and crying.

Lesson learned today: Never deliver food to Riverview Nissan on Dobson and the 202 unless you have ESP. Also, stress helps the diet.

This article is from Modern Mechanics 1934. I'm just wondering what the huge draw for this was. Who would want their weight called out on loud speaker "several times" to anybody who happens to be around? No thank you!

Our new dog just might be the ugliest dog in the world

My friend called me yesterday to tell me she found a Beagle/Bassett dog that looked a lot like Lady walking around in the neighborhood. She called the phone number on the tag and it had been disconnected. She knew how much we missed Lady so she thought we might want this dog. I was so excited when I heard it was a Bassett that looked a lot like lady. I told my kids that she was bringing the dog over and they were almost in tears with excitement. Well, she brought the dog over and, uh, no, not a Bassett, not even sure what it is. All I know is she has a tiny head on a very FAT body and her name is of all things... SPICE! We found out quickly that she is a VERY SWEET dog. She won't jump on you, sits when told, and she loves us. What more could you ask for in a dog? I did put her on craigslist and notified the pound in case somebody is looking for her. I just hope for Jake's sake that she really was abandoned because Jake is in love.

Parenting Skills? What Parenting Skills?

This is where I found my boys this morning after I asked them to get in the shower, let's see....10 TIMES! They don't look nervous about it do they? I guarantee that in 40 minutes when they are begging for a ride to school because they didn't get ready on time to ride their scooters, the answer will be a big fat NO...... until they cry and look pitiful enough for me to give in.
Somebody wrote on my wall in the backyard yesterday. I'm not sure who it was but I'm pretty sure his favorite color is red.
