My Day

Nothing exciting has happened this week so I'm just going to write about my day today and you can be the judge of how exciting my life is... or isn't!

Got up at 6:30, made oatmeal and lunches for the kids. Yelled at the kids over and over to get ready. By 7:30 all the kids were gone to school so I cleaned up the kitchen, put in a load of laundry and laid on the couch to watch some of my shows I recorded on the DVR (See Melissa? Tivo and DVR are amazing!). Fell asleep for about a half hour because I had been up way too late the night before doing my 25 random things about me on Facebook that I now regret doing. Got to Krazy Sub at 10:00, made a delivery at 10:45 then went to work at the other Krazy Sub. Helped a bunch of customers, sliced a bunch of meat and cheese, made some tuna salad, made another delivery, helped some more customers.........etc. etc. etc. Got home late today (5:30). Fed the kids Krazy Sub because Brent was working late at the other store so I didn't feel the need to make dinner. Cleaned up, homework with the kids, a little computer time, then, and this is finally the exciting part of the day, hold onto your seats:

I noticed at 6:45 that my girls were in dresses and asked Sarah why in the world she was in a dress to go to mutual. She gave me a weird look and told me that it's New Beginnings tonight. I was sitting in my dirty, smelly Krazy Sub shirt with greasy hair in a pony tail and I smelled like pickles and onions. The girls were supposed to be there early to practice a song that they sang literally two lines in (so glad they had practices for that!) (No offense Val, if you read this, you should have just done a solo though because you were awesome by yourself!). Anyhoo, on with the awesome story... We got there just as they started so they didn't get to practice (sorry about that Val if you ever read this. Again, you really should have just sang/sung a solo.) My hair was still in a greasy pony tail, and I still smelled like pickles and onions but I did have a skirt and sweater on so there was a little improvement. It was a nice evening. They showed a video of all of the girls talking about who their examples are. Sarah chose Grandma Arnett and Rebecca chose Grandma Willis. Both amazing women who I look up to too so I think they made great choices. I wasn't at all upset that I was one of the only mom's not chosen as a great example to their children. No, not at all.

What I learned today: mark things on my calendar, take a shower as soon as I get home from work, Nate's basketball practice is on Thursdays, not Wednesdays, and the Osmond boy on American Idol was awesome.

Not sure I like the 3rd grade...

Here's yet another 3rd grade project Jake has to do this year. I think they only have about 4 more major projects to do this year... It's so nice to have older children who have done this project before and are willing to help their brother!
Here's the finished project. So what if you can see that it's made out of a Tide box and the milk bottles are 10 sizes too big for the people. I think they did a great job! (With a tiny bit of help from me)

I love to see the temple...

I have had some issues with a lady in our ward the last few days and have not been all that nice. I felt like it was all her fault and was very very frustrated over the whole situation. Tonight was ward temple night and I thought I better go. I talked to Kristen last night and asked her to please call me in the afternoon today to remind me of how much I need to go because Iknew that once I got home from work today, I would be too tired to go. Low and behold, when I got home, I was in fact too tired to go to the temple. As I was on my way to pick up Rebecca from school, I checked my messages and there was one from my awesome sister telling me that I would be really upset with myself if I didn't get there. So, even though I had a ponytail in my hair and was very tired, I ran and got myself there. Halfway there I realized that I forgot my temple bag and my recommend and I almost decided to just forget it. I called Brent and he told me that I should still go and that he would meet me halfway to give my my recommend. (Brent had class tonight so he couldn't go). I got there just in time to get dressed and hurry up to the room for the session to start just a few minutes later. Even though I had a hard time staying awake during the session, afterward I felt so much better. I finally felt the spirit for the first time in a few days. I realized that I was reacting to the situation totally wrong and that I need to try harder at looking for the good in this person and being more patient. I'm so thankful for this wonderful place that we can go to when we are feeling low and need a little help in remembering how we should be treating others. I really feel so much better! Thank you thank you thank you Kristen for being an amazing sister!

Family Night at the Krummenacher's Home

Here are my CUTE KIDS after watching Cipher In The Snow for Family Night tonight. I'm not sure they learned anything but they sure HAD FUN together!
Sarah had quite a day at church today. I walked into the chapel a little later than my family did and noticed Sarah was up on the stand with Brent talking to the Bishopric and she was crying. Steve and Glenna told me that she just found out that her name was on the program to give a talk today. She was asked on Wednesday but totally forgot about it. I grabbed her and we walked to the Primary room because I knew we had a few books in there that she could use. My poor Sarah takes after her mom and cries uncontrollably when she is stressed out. I'm so sorry that I passed that on to you, Sarah! She got herself under control and after a lot of quiet prayers from her mom and I'm sure a lot from Sarah, she did great! I'm so proud of her for even getting up. I was approached by several members of the ward later about how impressed they were that she still got up there and did such a great job. I don't know how I got such wonderful children!

A big thank you goes to this cute girl. Caitlin, we love you so much! Caitlin followed us to the Primary room as soon as she saw Sarah in tears. She grabbed all of her notes on different gospel topics that she had taken over the years and helped Sarah gather her thoughts and calm down. We are so lucky to be able to call you a friend! Thank you for your wonderful example to my children!

On a different note, Brent sang in church today. I am so amazed by his beautiful voice every time I hear him. You'd think I'd be used to it by now. How lucky am I to be married to him and get to hear him sing all the time? He did fabulous today and made everyone cry. That's a sure sign he did well!

Sunday Morning

My boys got tired of waiting for me to make breakfast so they made some pancakes themselves. They even figured out how to double the recipe. Good job boys! I took a cute picture from behind to show what Nate was wearing but he wouldn't let me post it.

.This isn't from this morning but I had to post this picture of my cute creative Rebecca. She was bored the other night so made this lovely crown.

Can you tell what these pictures spell out?

You can find the letters here: http://www.pbase.com/abbarich/the_alphabet or others here: http://www.letterperspectives.com./all_letters.php
I thought it might be fun to frame each letter that spells out our last name and put them down the hall with some family pictures under it. Such a neat and different way to spell out your name. Glenna told me about this about a month ago and I just now thought to look it up. So cute.

New Year's Resolutions

If you know me, you know I HATE pictures of myself. Mainly because I'm not happy with the way I look. I thought this would be a good picture for my New Year's post because it WILL be my BEFORE picture. This time next year, I plan on looking like a new woman. (Isn't Mexico beautiful?) Glenna challenged everyone in the family to make nine goals for the new year so that's just what we did last night for family night. I liked Megan's blog where she revisited her goals from last year and checked off the ones she did. Hopefully I'll remember to do that next year and if I do remember, hopefully I'll be able to check some off. So here they are:
  1. Eat better (duh)
  2. Exercise at least 4 times a week (again duh)
  3. Read scriptures everyday. Sorry to disappoint those who thought I did this already. Everyday is hard!
  4. Make dinner at least 5 times a week. (These goals are very telling aren't they?)
  5. Drink more water than Diet Pepsi. (this is for you mom)
  6. Be more thoughtful of others
  7. Go to bed earlier (I'll start tomorrow)
  8. Get my photos in albums
  9. Family Home Evening EVERY week

Here are a few of the rest of the family's goals:

Nate: 1. Don't eat too much Taco Bell. 2. Love more holy things (he was making fun of Sarah). 3. On the phone, instead of saying I love you at the end of a call, say it at the beginning. (he was making fun of a lady on the news). By this point I told him he had to come up with some serious ones. 4. Do chores without being asked. 5. Don't go on the computer too much. 6. Don't watch too much t.v.

Sarah: 1. Love more holy things (She liked this goal after someone suggested it in testimony meeting) 2. Personal progress completion. 3. exercise more often and eat better. 4. Have a closer relationship with Heavenly Father.

Rebecca: 1. Not say the "C" word (crap). 2. Eat healthier. 3. Not call Spice (our dog) stupid. 4. eat fruit as a dessert. 5. Have a close relationship with Heavenly Father. 6. Read scriptures every night. 7. Not eat chocolate. 8. Not yell. 9. one can of soda per month. (she had more but I'll stop here)

Jake: 1. Make A. R. goal earlier. 2. Don't go on the computer as much. 3. Do my chores every day.

Brent: 1. Have more faith. 2. Get better eating and work out habits. 3. Read a good book. 4. Be a better example.

Pictures, pictures, and more pictures...

I got a camera for Christmas because I ran over my other one (a story I'd rather not re-tell thank you very much). So now instead of a bunch of words on my blog, you get pictures. You're welcome. Now that things have settled down a bit, I can finally update all that happened over the last few weeks. Here you go...
Christmas morning before opening the gifts...

Favorite presents:

Jake liked the dragster he got to put together himself.

Rebecca got a phone. We haven't had a normal conversation with her since Christmas because she is CONSTANTLY texting. Sarah with her new phone. We're enrolling her in acting classes because she's pretty good at it. Nate liked the fireworks he got. We really enjoyed them at the beach in Mexico.
Christmas afternoon we went to my mom's and had an impromptu nativity play. Nate really was much more excited to be Joseph than he looks. We appreciated all the teenagers (and young adults) for stepping it up and joining us in the play since we were a little low on children. Emily was a shepherd Bridget was a cow, and Mason was the star but you don't see them in the picture. I bet you never knew that a lion was there that first Christmas night. Now you know.
Grandma tried hard to get Sarah to join in on the fun but she was content as she napped during the play.
The day after Christmas, we hopped in the car and drove about six hours to our friends' beach house in Mexico. We all had a fun and relaxing time. Thank you Davis Family!
You can see their beach house in the background to the left right next to the ramp.
The "town".
Brent's favorite hang out. This is the only store in town. Here is the famous dirt road that we drove an hour and a half on to get there. I wish you could see better how long it is. See those mountains in the background? It goes past those. It was so worth the drive there and so not worth the drive home. We all got very sick on it on the way home except for Jake who laughed on every bump like it was a roller coaster rideOnce we got home, reality set in and I remembered all of the primary things I had to do to get the new year rolling. Thank goodness the other members of the presidency were on top of things! Here are a couple pictures from our "Meet the Teacher" breakfast. Nate's class is in the top picture and Jake's is the bottom.
