Happy Independence Day! (take two)

Well here's my cake. Not as pretty as the one I tried to copy because let's face it, I don't really have cake decorating skills. BUT, I was so excited that it turned out! And it tasted really good so that's all that matters in the end don't you think? I used this recipe that I love because it holds up great and I love almond flavoring in baked goods. I used the cream cheese frosting recipe that the 17 and baking girl used and it's really good too.
Here's what it looked like in the middle. Pretty cool huh?
Only Jake came down with us to Brent's parent's house at night because he was the only one ready to go when we wanted to go (they live like 10 houses down from us). I kept wondering where the rest of my kids were when finally about 45 minutes later Sarah, Rebecca and Nate showed up in these outfits. Rebecca's glasses are those 3D glasses we got when we saw Toy Story 3. She added star stickers and made herself some beautiful 4th of July glasses. Sarah's scarf and flower are made out of an old skirt and Nate tied a flag around his neck to make his outfit as awesome as it is. And no, you can't just go and buy that amazing skirt of Rebecca's anywhere if you were wondering how you could get your hands it. Sorry, it's just a blanket. You would have never guessed would you? Crazy kids.
Hope everyone had a great Independence Day!

I don't know what you are talking about when you say you don't have any cake skills, because you are amazing! The cake looks fabulous.
