Krummenacher happenings...

(Cousins singing "I'm Yours" with Nate on the ukulele)

Where have we been? Let's see, as for me, I offered to edit our ward cookbook so that we could get it out in time for Christmas gifts. I didn't realize when I offered to do this that there were almost 800 recipes. So, if I'm not at Krazy Sub, I'm editing. It's been fun seeing all of the recipes that are going in to the cookbook. I'm kind of excited for it to come out. In fact, I couldn't resist making one of the banana bread recipes last night. If you get one of the cookbooks, you'll have to try Cindy Avery's banana bread. Really moist and delicious!

The girls are both working at Krazy Sub now so they are busy either with school or work or friends. I don't see much of them at all, come to think about it. I kinda miss them! They had a choir concert together last Tuesday and their choirs all did great! Sarah is in two choirs this year, because she loves it so much. Tonight she tried out for the All-state jazz choir. Cross your fingers! She'll find out on Monday if she made it. It's a really hard choir to make so she said she won't be too heart broken if she doesn't make it (but she really, really would like to!). Rebecca just started going to Jazzercise with her friends about 3 times a week. It makes it so much more fun to go with friends so she is really enjoying it. That girl has a lot of rhythm so Jazzercise is the perfect form of exercise for her!

Nate loves junior high. He's been playing basketball after school at the junior high and liked it even though his team lost all of the games in the tournament by a landslide. His Grandpa Frank had to go to his games because they were all on the night of the girls' concert. Thank goodness for grandpas!

Nate told me that he saw a boy sitting by himself at lunch during the first week of school so invited him over to sit with Nate and his friends. Turned out the boy just moved here from California so it was rough for him to start junior high with no friends. Nate and this boy have become fast friends since then. I'm so proud of Nate for seeing the needs of this boy and not being afraid to help him out. I have always been so shy that I just wait for people to come to me even when it should be me that tries to make others feel welcome and comfortable. It's amazing how much we can learn from our children!

Jake isn't loving 5th grade as much as Nate is loving 7th. My shy boy is not loving the fact that his brother is not at the same school as him this year. We went through a rough patch last week with Jake really not wanting to go to school. It reminds me of the time he was just starting Kindergarten and asked me while he was crying, "Why do I have to go to school? It's so hard! We have to color and sing songs and play. Why can't we just watch movies? Can't you just teach me, Mom?" I thought it was so cute when he said it, I had to write it down. Jake has always been very content to stay home and just hang out with me whereas his brother has always had to have something going on. We did finally get it out of Jake that he was being picked on a little by a boy in his class. Once we got that figured out (and I bribed him with Golden Spoon if he didn't cry in the mornings before school) he's been just fine. We told him that he has to learn to not be afraid to tell the kid to stop bugging him. He actually stood up for himself with this kid a few times after that. I'm proud of him for having the courage to not take the bullying and to stand up for himself. It's not easy for a painfully shy kid! I think he'll be just fine. (I'm sure it didn't hurt that I called the teacher either).

Lucky me, I just looked at my mother in law's blog and found a picture of all four of my kids working with their grandma at our ward humanitarian day on September 11th. They are seen here stuffing balls for toys. The ward ended up making over 100 of them that day along with all of the hygiene kits, quilts, coloring books, school supplies, etc, etc, etc. It was a perfect way to spend the day on 9/11 remembering those who are less fortunate than us. I'm so glad she has a blog that I can steal pictures from since I've been so bad at taking pictures lately!

Bright spot of my week: Found out I'm down 15 lbs since I started Weight Watchers

Low spot of my week: Totally forgot I signed up to bring Texas sheet cake to a funeral luncheon! What?! Luckily by the time I remembered, I had time to go to the store, buy some cake, and bring it to the church with 2 minutes to spare. Ugh, talk about feeling sick!

I've done one ward cookbook. Don't know if I will ever do another one. I did find an amazing company to print it and everything that was very reasonable!

I love reading all your updates! You have such a fun family, and I don't know how you find the time to do half of the things you are involved with! Good job on the weight loss too!
