I was hoping to get lots done this week to get ready for our Colorado trip but we had an incident happen at Krazy Sub on Friday that held everything up.
Dawn, our 50 something going on 80 something year old employee tripped on Brent's size 13 feet and fell flat on her face! Her forehead ripped open in a spot so she was bleeding a lot. Brent said it was a huge scene because we had a lot of customers eating lunch and she was literally sobbing loudly after she fell. Every customer came over to see poor Dawn, I would have been embarrassed beyond belief! Brent took her to urgent care and they told her they couldn't do anything for a head trauma. By that point she didn't have any signs of a concussion and the bleeding had slowed down quite a bit so they went and got some butterfly band aids and came back to the shop to doctor her up.
Saturday she came in to work and told Brent she couldn't use her hands because they hurt too bad from the fall. Brent could not think of even one job at Krazy Sub that you can do if you can't use your hands so he told her to just go home. Earlier that week another employee quit but didn't tell us that she wasn't going to finish out her week. She didn't end up showing up either so we were now down two people. Brent had me come in, make the delivery he was going to make, then come back and finish out the day. Around 3:00, Dawn came walking in with a huge bandage wrapped around her head and a splint on her right arm! She had decided to go to the emergency room, had her head, knee, and wrist x-rayed and found out that her wrist was broken. All Brent could see at that point was dollar signs and all I could think about was how were we going to go on our trip next week without enough employees?!!!
I ended up leaving Krazy Sub at 5:00pm with enough time to get food for my kids and then out the door to go clean the model homes at 6:00pm.
Monday started with cleaning the models at 5:00, taking all four kids to the dentist at 9:00, leaving the dentist at 11:30, then going in to work at Krazy Sub until 5:00pm. Couldn't get to sleep that night for some reason so finally fell asleep at around 1:00am.
Tuesday was even worse: model homes at 5:00, Krazy Sub at 9:00 because Brent was on a scout trip, left Krazy Sub at 1:00 to take both Sarah and Rebecca to the orthodontist, back to Krazy Sub at 2:30. Had an employee come in at 4:00 very upset because he couldn't get anyone to work for him that night and if he didn't go to mutual, he wouldn't be able to go on their river trip. I told him I would work for him but asked if he could stay until 6:00 so that I could get home to feed my kids and have a little rest. Went back to Krazy Sub at 6:00 and got home at 9:30.
Today is Wednesday. I LOVE WEDNESDAY!!!! I didn't have to get up early for the models because I don't have to clean them until 6:00 tonight. I don't have to go to Krazy Sub because Brent is back and we have other people to work today. I get to spend time with my kids cleaning the house and getting ready for the trip!!! Woo hoo!
Found out yesterday that Rebecca needs braces. I asked if she really needs them or if it would get better as her teeth come in more. The ortho said that she is much worse off than Sarah and that her teeth would only get worse, not better. Luckily we know the orthodontist and he's giving us a deal. Instead of $5,200 he is giving it to us for $3,800 (Same as what he did for Sarah). The only thing we are worried about is that he said there is a possibility that she will have to see an oral surgeon during the treatment if one of her teeth doesn't come down. He thinks it's impacted. That will be another expense. She also has an extra tooth above her two front teeth that she needs out. Aren't preteens fun?
I had to leave in the middle of writing this to pick up my friend's children from Queen Creek. Stopped in Krazy Sub on the way and ended up staying there for a while because they needed help. On our way home from Queen Creek we stopped at Walmart because the kids wanted some things to decorate the backyard shed with. Got home at around 5:00pm and then left with Brent to clean the models, then to Costco for food for the trip on Saturday. Got home at 9:00 so.... another day without cleaning the house. Oh well, we had fun right? At least the kids did their chores and tomorrow is another day and another opportunity to finally get to the house.....we'll see!
By the way, the girls had fun at camp. Here are some pictures that their young women's president sent me in an e-mail. Nice to have good young women leaders that think of those
things!
Skit night: The theme was "Treasure Seekers" so our ward did a Blue's Clues skit. Sarah was Magenta and Rebecca was Shovel.
I think this is the cup game. Looks like they were in the lodge with other girls from the stake. Sarah is on the right and her friend, Clara is on the left.
Rebecca and her best friend Sara on their way to camp. It was Rebecca's birthday so the Young Women's Pres gave her a hat to wear.
Rebecca said that when they got to camp they had her go up and they all sang to her for her birthday. She said she hated it but I don't think so by the look of the picture!
Sarah on the right with her best friend Lia doing some scrap booking.
